Removing lowering links plz advice

Recommended Posts

First of all, I didn't know that 09 DRZ400s was setup for a 170lb rider stone stock. Had I known I wouldn't have asked the dealer to add a lowering link. When they did this they dropped the front forks and I'm sure they did something with the rear (just don't know what) but that's it. No re-valving or anything like that. The more I read about what has been said here the more I agree that I never should have added it. Luckily, I haven't taken it offroad yet but I would like to and was hoping someone could walk me thru the steps of getting rid of this lowering link. I weigh about 215lbs and would also like to be able to pull off some jumps - maybe 10 feet (not 30). I'm pretty sure all the parts involved in this are stock (spring, forks, ect...).

1. As far as I can figure, I need to get a motorcycle stand, remove the skid plate and get the bike up.

2. Remove the lowering links, re-use the bushings with the stock links and put the stockers back on to the tune of about 60 ft-lb torque.

3. After that I don't really know. Thanx for the help.
