1981 RM 125X Rebuild

Recommended Posts

I just purchased a 1981 RM125 and was considering rebuilding the bike. I only paid $125 for it, running, but ugly as all get-out! I was hoping I could get a few questions answered:

In order to replace the crank seals must I split the case? I have been told no, but still wanted to "verify." The bike came with new crank seals as well as seals for the primary drive, kickstarter and gear shifter.

I suppose a Clymer is in order, but any advice and recommendations would be greatly appreciated. This will be the first time i have ever pulled-apart a motor, so trying to be as cautious as possible.

Thanks for any help you can offer:worthy:
