what about a hydrogen fuel cell that can go several days without needing a fill up? what about fusion powered bikes. the equivalent to like 5000 HP and a source that lasts as long as you are alive. plus minimal pollution. the longer batteries last the worse they are for the environment.
I would say electric. People need to give it a chance. It took a long time to make four strokes as good as they are now. Give electric another 15 years and see where it is at then.

what about a big old thumper just chugging away. moving all kinds of air, and making all kinds of noise, the kind of noise that vibrates through my hands and makes me feel like a viagara pill with a face:thumbsup:

this whole thread is redick.

yes e bikes are being developed, and yes they are prob suprisingly decent. but i think that it is a serious number of years from now that when we turn or espn to watch the national they are going to be lined up on the gate. if thats the case ill ride a mtn bike like someone else said.

some of you guys are acting like we need more technology or performance out of our bikes now. the modern bike is incredible. and none of us probably ride it to its potential now.this is stupid. i could see if we were in need for a substitute, but we are no where near in need. how many years did the 2 stroke hold as th mainstream power plant? compare that to the life of the 4 stroke mx bike? the 4 stroke isnt even an infant yet. if your sitting here dreaming about the days of an electric bike, then you might as well give up now. cause the sport wont even be the same.

ha think about a pack of electric bikes barreling into the woops at anahiem. silent. dull. unexciting

its like a pornstar with out a chest. botom line

We're talking about the future, and before we know it petroleum will be so scarce we'll need to use it for things with no viable alternative, and powering engines isn't one.

What about magnets?

Could help with pulling the valves up and down faster. By having a magnet on each opposite end of the valve. And somehow the polars....blah,blah,blah.

I've been thinking about magnets for a while now, they can help with plane landings.

I need to do more research on how magnets work.

How many years have the wells been going dry? Scare tactics to get the price of gas up so the companies make more money. The oil wells are not going anywhere anytime soon.

thousands of wells already went dry, have you never travled outside your home state?

just take a trip through the old oil fields in the south and midwest, abandoned oil fields and pumps all over the place

and how many more do we not know about? No, I have never been outside of PA, why do you ask?

I have been hearing for decades that the oil is almost gone and will be gone by the year "XXXX", but that year has passed and the oil is still around.

How big if an oil deposit was the BP rig in before it sunk?

I was just pointing out that your statement about wells not going dry was false

I have a friend that works for big oil, he's part of a dive team that inspects old offshore rigs when they abandon them because the well went dry

big picture here, try to keep up. :bonk:

Sure, wells will go dry, but there are a lot more wells out there that I am sure not even the big companies know about yet.

With the new demand from massive countries like China and India oil won't be arround forever, even a simple minded person like you should understand such an obvious fact.

simple minded huh? now shits getting serious:thumbsup:

you're not wrong tiger. it just wont be tomorrow. and when we start identifying a scarcity of the natural resource, we will then have a motive to develop an alternative. however that is not what this thread is about. its about where technology will take us, not because we need an alternative, but just because technological advancements are bound to happen in every aspect of our modern lives.

point is though chachie, that the 4 stroke mx engine is a high performance monster that makes other 4 stroke looks rudementary. they are going to have quite the reign for the years to come. and they are nt going to bow down to electric P***Y bikes in our life times, at least in our riding days. write that down:banana:

Lets not talk about oil reserves and BPs politics.

First off, those who said oil is going to be scarce. you will all be buried next to your grand kids before we run out of oil. I couldnt believe what I read. There is that much left in the earth but thiing is its not all light sweeet crude, some of it is super deep like 20 miles or even 50 for that matter. FYI its located in canada, there is a huge reservoir somewhere up there. I did a research project on this...

Not really interested in the politics of it or whatever "big picture" you guys are talking about (do not care), I was just pointing out that wells do indeed go dry, contrary to what you said

If you don't care about the topic, why come in and pick apart a post? Does it make you feel better?

I have had a lot of electronic parts quit on me in my cars, I do not need more of that on my bike. I think a 2 stroke with a carb is just fine.
