Stuck TDC Hex Cap Thing (I don't know what to call it)

Recommended Posts

I was checking my valves on my 08 CRF250r and I could not get the cap off for nothing. I was pulling as hard as possible on the hex key (yes, the right way, well, left way...) and I couldn't get it. Is it normally supposed to be tight, and I should hit the weights? Or how do I get it loosened?

I ended up doing the ole screw driver down the spark hole to get to TDC.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Yes hit the gym. Those caps are very easy to break when you tighten them so if you cant get it off you have issues. Being that tight I would order another one and have it ready because you are going to break that one.

There is another way to tell. If the intake lobes are facing to the rear and the cam sprocket marks are lined up with the head then you are TDC. About the stuck plug.

Try a small impact driver to loosen it. Many small impact from a gun are much better than a huge steady force for loosening stuck stuff.
