KX250 Gearing

Recommended Posts

I just bought a 2005 KX250 that runs great but heres the problem. We do alot of rocky hill climbs and i thought about regearing it for a little more bottom end. Anybody know what teeth/ratio i should go with? It has stock gearing now. And also it has brand new Renthal sprockets and new D.I.D chain. Could i get away with just changing the front sprocket to save a little $$ or do i need to do both?

Thank You

On my 2005 I went one tooth bigger. That tightens up the ratios and make's it pull a little harder off the bottom. I think any more than one tooth on the back would tend to make the bike hard to manage. Also a flywheel weight might help you, I've never felt the need for one myself.
