Case Savers... what are you using to stick 'em on?

Hiya,

One of mine decided to pop off today. lt looks like the previous owner smeared some kind of goo onto the case and then stuck the plate on. Obviously whatever he used didn't work all that well.

l went to the local DIY shop and found hi temp double-sided tape. l also saw standard silicone that is good to 150 degrees celsius. Anybody have a recommendation?

High Temp silicone...

the regular would probably do the job..your engine will be in a spot of bother if it ever got to 150 C.. 100 C is boiling point

Can't find Permatex in Japan and they can't ship chemicals overseas. All-purpose silicone will have to do l guess.

the brand doesn't matter as much as the adhesive itself.search for high temperature Room Temperature Vulcanizing(RTV) silicone adhesive suitable for aerospace or automotive applications.Dow-Corning,G.E.,Permatex,etc.,etc..any will work fine.

I just grabbed a tube of RTV silicone...

If you can't find that, and seriously never want to peel them off again, go for some Shoe Goo II. That stuff sticks like nothing I've ever seen. Nearly impossible to remove....

I used Ultra Grey. It has a much higher temp rating and is very oil resistant. Plus, it's the same color as the cases and armor.

Or use something like JB Weld if you want them to stay forever...

the silicone also provides some cushion in the event of a hard hit to the case saver

I used Abro black rtv silicone gasket maker up to 500F(260C) .

you mix it and apply it with chop sticks
