Carb tuning basics help

Above is the carb from my bike a 1987 Suzuki DR250S. I have a complete rebuild kit (unused), carb is a Mikuni CV, not sure exactly of the model. Currently bike will start and idle with careful manipulation of throttle/choke. It starts to die/choke as I open the throttle.

What I'm after is a step by step guide to getting the bike running well, including what part on the diagram above is being referred to! Float level is good (clear hose trick as seen elsewhere on forum).
