Weird/creepy/funny things you've found/seen on the trail

I don't know if for you this is creepy, but Sunday I found myself all of a sudden with half of the road or trail missing due to a landslide due to the bad weather we had the previous days. The bad thing was because it was after a hill and there was no way to see it. fortunately I was not going fast and I had the time to stop and warn all my friends behind me.

Hello gentleman. First post. Early in my riding career, my friend, Brian and my self were riding a small area outside Brighton,Mi, when came across a spot in the trail, kind of a uphill turn down hill and found two guys (friends) going in oppisite directions, had met, headon at the top of the hill. Damn, what carnage! The frame head was broken clean off one bike, and lots of parts laying around. One guy was laying by his (?) bike, his one leg going funny directions and one arm kinda turned inside out. Screaming...The other guy was leaning against a tree, face covered in blood, part of his cheek hanging down (could see his teeth) also with one leg pointed south (he was pointed north) First thing guy number two says is to guy number one is "will you shut the F$#k up! Second thing he says is"Please tell me you got a smoke"

There are no "legal" trails around brighton.. so were abouts? Near the state parks? Cuz that's were id go.

No, they were not "legal". But I'm talking about 1980 or so. We rode around the north side of Woodland lake. There were very few houses and probably a good 40-50 acres open. I rode a street legal bike-DT250B Yamaha-so you find little tracts here and there to ride. Very easy to spend a great saturday between Brighton, Hartland and south Fenton area.

my buddy kept putting quarters in there but could not make a call.  he must have put a $1.50 in there, prob would have put more if he had more change.  i tried my credit card but didn't have any luck either, may it was maxed out?  ;)  seriously though, we did hundreds of kms that day.

as for fun, yes, my son, buddies and i certainly make the most of our short riding season.

That would have scared the crap out of me.  Unfortunately, that's not so uncommon to find that kind of thing and it's a suicide.

Riding along a main trail in the pine barons and came across what looked like a human body hanging by the neck from a tree where the trail split, it ended up being a mannequin.... No money in the pockets >_>

Same thing happened to me. I'd been flat tracking an old dirt road above the Mokelumne River. Took a little side trail and found an old one-room  "miner's cabin" and decided to check it out. Inside was a stove, table, and on old bed. Sticking out from under the bed was a naked woman's leg. My blood ran cold until I got up the courage to pull it out and realized it was a manikin leg. During the few seconds before I realized what it was I went through all kinds of scenarios involving murderous thugs kidnapping and killing young women, etc. Didn't help that I was 14 and totally alone, miles from civilization. Brrrr. :jawdrop:

That makes sense.

Riding up at Red Mountain a decade or more ago, I decided to stop on the side of a hill and take a break. As I sat there on my bike on the side of the hill and took my helmet off, that very second, a humming bird came smack right in my face just inches from me and hovered there for about a minute which almost seemed an eternity. It just hovered there making eye contact with me. I was so mesmerized, I didn't move an inch. After about a minute it veered off to my right and disappeared. I was like what just happened? It wasn't so much creepy, but really weird that a bird would do that and not be afraid. Hell I was more afraid of it than it probably was of me.

You got red hair?

Deer hunting here I get out before dawn. We're required to wear a red hat or vest. I wear a hat. Several times right before dawn hummingbirds and huge bees will hover all around my hat. Pretty freaky if you aren't expecting it.

So the weirdest things I have ever seen are:

Small electric hummer

Destroyed cars with bullet holes and stuff

Old lawn mower

Peddle boat

People riding horses

Other riders in the middle of nowhere on private property

A dude smoking 5 minutes from my friends house on the side of the trail

A sandal

Lawn chairs

Oh wait a minute....the weirdest thing that I ever found in the desert was a riding friend's Jeep stuck in the Anza Borrego State Park, marooned there by his teenaged son who was never found. This was a little over a year ago.

Really sad. Only good thing to come of it was love and marriage between his mom and the Sherriff.

Maybe the sheriff who was involved killed the teen and in turn the mom agreed to Marry him....

Brother and I as kids found a bunch of buzzards and crows on a patch of brush. Expected dead deer or something. It was a dead guy who was murdered a few days earlier. They found the killer

For second one a friend and I used to ride in a old mining area. Loved to crawl into mines and caves. He showed me a new one. It was small opening(natural cave) so I pulled off my gear and pistol and crawled about 15 foot in when he yelled behind me. Inside the cave started getting loud like wind or train. Then something hit me in head and I jerked up and smashed head on rock. This happened 2 more times til I was almost uncounsious til I realized I was covered in bats. I crawled out backwards and friend was running down road with my pistol. Good thing as he may have had a 44 in him if it was there. Had a few nightmares for a while on that one.

Goin around shine stills is a good way to get shot at lol. I was down in kentucky visiting witg my uncle and I was bombin around and the dirt in front of me exploded so I stopped and then the tree exploded. Didnt take long for me to realize I wad being shot at.

I don't think there are any active stills in Mn., but obviously I could be wrong.  I've also never seen evidence of meth labs or pot growing.

Regarding those long abandoned stills, if you can get in there with a vehicle to take them out, last time I checked,  that type of (clean) copper was going for $3.00 per pound.  The effort could pay for a couple new tires and a top end job on your bike!

My friends were riding this very technical woods area in southeast Oklahoma, where a 10 year old hillbilly white trash boy pulled a gun on them.  We're allowed to ride there legally, but them hillbillies lay claim to land and think it's there own.  Gotta be careful.

When I see White Trash JimDog Ditson waving me down while I'm riding in those areas, I just keep going.  Stopping won't help anything.
