Just bought one at a heck of a deal for my wife, any known issues to keep an eye on? I am assuming pretty basic maintenance on it and it will be a heck of a reliable bike for a long time. Thanks for the responses!!

Keep the valves adjusted, check the oil level before each ride and make sure you turn on the gas before you head out.

If the bike is acting up, change the spark plug and clean the carb and air-filter.

That's it.

We've got two of them. One is heavily modified, one is bone stock. Can't ask for easier to maintain bikes.

Congrats! You just purchased a glorified lawn mower. Do basic maintenance, and it will run forever, maybe longer. Great understressed motor. Keep an eye out for the things smacaroni listed above, and your kids kids will have a great "beater" bike they got from grandpa.....haha

The DR engine design is bullet proof with the basic maintenance Smacaroni mentioned. It's been around since 1982 and I've seen many used and abused examples beyond belief that would run almost forever.
