Honda xr 70 question-- please help!

Recommended Posts

I have a 2003 xr70. a few weeks ago it started to smoke pretty badly, so i decided to order some new rings. I got a UNI air filter and a clymer manual, new gaskets and a sparkplug. Just for the heck of it, i put the UNI air filter on it to see if it would run any differently (this filter replaced the entire old filter setup) And it didn't run much better, so i decided we would go on and put the rings in. With the help of the clymer manual, they were very easy to put on. Only problem is now it won't start. Im thinking the problem is when we had to remove the cam, it required loosining up the valves all the way. Anyhow, it still won't start-- and yes key and gas are on. WHAT DO I DO??! ?

If you haven't already, make sure the cam is timed properly. With the flywheel timing mark (T) lined up with the engine case mark, the cam sprocket mark (o) should be lined up exactly with the timing mark on the head. When that is accomplished, then you can set your valves at the same time.
