Simple question about the parts on the exhaust? (with video...)

get new springs! then your pipe will be being held on better, springs get weaker over time. as well, get new o-rings onto your exhuast flang to stop the oil from leaking from your cylinder.

where to start. from the looks of the pipe. its pulling away at the bottom most likely because the pipe and the mounts are bent or both. next there should be 2 seals on the exhaust flange. one that seals the flange to the cylinder and the another that seals the flange to the pipe. new springs wouldn't hurt ethier. if money is tight, just rtv the piss out of it until you get the money for parts.

shit, i use RVT on my pipe/sillencer conection. works better then pig-tails.

and where do you see $500 pipes( besides new O.E.M) for that thing your can get fmf or pc for less than 1/2 that new and around $100 used. ..might want to repack that silencer while your at it if you want to be real cheap i know a couple pro's that use steel whool to pack their silencers:thumbsup:

Thanks dude, the cheapest I could find the pipes for was a banged up stock pipe for $230... If you know of any place to find it cheaper let me know. And what do people usually use to pack them with?? Also rtv???

keep looking on ebay you'll find one idk about the early bikes but see if any other years fit that bike the pips might be the same

RTV silicone is a type of sealant. they come in different temps and resistances. I found that the clear rtv works the best. even on 4 stroke exhaust. almost ever parts store under the sun has it. this is what i use.

These guys can blow out the dents, then you can hit it with high temp rattle can paint.

Otherwise ebay for a header pipe cheap! Then repack the silencer.

High temp RTV (liquid silicone gasket maker) for the pipe if it still leaks. New springs, straighten the mounts.

Stop guessing with you premix ratio, get a "ratio rite" cup. http://www.amazon.com/Ratio-Rite-Measuring-Cup/dp/B0045L9FJM

Use a quality premix oil. I like Maxima 927 http://www.bikebandit.com/maxima-castor-927-2-cycle-oil?WT.mc_id=1484958&CAWELAID=338429818

Then tune it once you have that straightened out. You should not have excessive spooge (oily residue) coming from the exhaust if you're tuned correctly. Otherwise you have other problems in the cylinder.

Thanks for the in-depth answer, what bike are you running the premix in? Also what do you mean by tuning? And I was told by the PO that he had a fouling plug issue about 3 years ago, and "we did some adjustments in the carb and I tried all kinds of different premix ratios, and 34:1 works best". I haven't tried mixing it to anything else then that, what's your opinion?
