Oh man, please tell me this is normal

Pulled my head, piston and cylinder to install big-bore

Looking down on the crank, there is a HAZ (heat affected zone) on the crank on either side of the con rod.

Please oh please tell me this is normal

i hope its normal too ha i have rode my bike for 100 more hours since the first time i seen that on my bike and its still running fine. i am pretty sure its okay

Normal, it's part of the crank assembly process.

thank you sir,

you just made my day. I was thinking the crank had been run without oil or something

no thats a good thing actually because if there isnt then you are running too rich. keep doing what your doing oil-wise
