Supercross Alessi's holehot:

ALESSI'S HOLEHOT: Red Bull KTM’s Mike Alessi grabbed the holeshot at the start of the main on his KTM 350SXF. Mike's starts seem to be back on track and with a series of holeshots to his credit in the last couple weeks, Alessi's bike was torn down after the race (it was selected at random). After careful evaluation, the AMA concluded that Alessi's bike was legal.

Sorry grasshoppers, get off please :ride: ... and get on a 350 ... :cheers: ...

Random huh? I guess that finally proves it is a 350 and you can holeshot it in supercross. Much tougher time doing so in Motocross but that bike is very capable and I would love to own one if I had the dough.

Alessi is 13th in the points this season... Short provides a much better argument for the 350 than Alessi thus far.

Yeah hes never been to flash at SX

But if it wasnt for that stupid injury when he was on the yellow team for the outdoors id have put money on him taking it

Sad to say but I think that was only real shot at it,I actually rate him as a rider hes done some of the hardest yards in the sport for very little accolade

He trains hard rides with a semi level head respects other riders(recently)

Cant understand the hate for him.............Sure his Dad is a tool but hes still his Dad and NOTHING will change that fact

Well he did fire his dad, so I guess that leaves only the other option...

Mike just doesn't have the speed to stay up front with the fast guys in supercross...I think he'll bring the 450 out for outdoors :cheers:

mike seems fine on the jumps and turns the first couple laps

but the whoops, wow does he ever have a hard time there, he's so slow in them it's painful to watch, he cant get rhythm going

I heard he will be riding the KTM 450 outdoors...

Think he has the speed outdoors due to conditioning. supercross is so much more about timing than being able to muscle the bike around, which is not his strength. If he keeps starting like this it will be a whole different situation in the nationals.

I'm pretty sure The Man said they are committed to the 350 for outdoors as well.

I thought I had read somewhere that Alessi will be on the 450 for outdoors and Short will be on the 350. If I remeber correctly the riders were given the option to choose which bike they wanted to ride.

At least the holeshot is worth something.

Red Bull KTM team manager Roger DeCoster said the team will begin outdoor testing this week, and the riders (Andrew Short and Mike Alessi) will have their choice of racing a 350 or 450 for AMA Motocross. “We want them to ride whatever they think will help them win,” said DeCoster. “And that could be a different bike for each rider.”

As strong as the starts made the 350 look, Alessi says he didn’t make any changes to his bike. In fact, he didn’t even ride a 350 all week, instead putting in laps on a stock 450. He will probably race the 450 in AMA Motocross. Short, meanwhile, also rode a 450 during the week, but has elected to stay on the 350 for AMA Motocross.

I'm not a whoop specialist by any stretch, but IMO rhythm is not what he's lacking. It's commitment! All the fast guys barely catch the first one without compressing the forks, and then are so hard on the gas that they start skimming the rest. I realize that bike setup plays a big role, but without that confidence/commitment to stay on the gas, riders end up looking like me and letting the forks drop into every depression there is. Well, not quite as bad as me but you get the point.:cheers:

What's crazy is only in season's past has MA owned the holeshot. Since the 350 and has to be other factors, no holeshots (but recent and way to go MA!), and MA isn't even riding top 10. ***?

i have'nt completetly given up on him, i just think that after the last injury to his knee that he is mentally damaged and isnt capable of the level of commitment required to stay at the top. i'll wait for the outdoors to make my final judment.
