11 TE 310 vs 11 TE 449/511 ?

Recommended Posts

449/511 is better in open stuff, the 310 is better in technical stuff. Both are good for general use. The 449/511 probably make a better dual sport, but I haven't ridden them.

The 310 is a nice, light bike, though. I'm fond of mine so far, despite some adaptation and growing pains that I think can be sorted out.

Which one is best depends on what your needs are, I suppose...

I will add my TE511 compared to my 2010 TXC250 (which I did like a lot) I would hands down choose the 511. It is heavier and the TXC is more nimble but the 511 just works so well and runs fantastic it is much EZer for me to enjoy.

being a screaming 125 fan (think "built" 125), the 310 has appeal to me, provided it is fast.

You realize this is my other bike right? (144 kit, Doma, etc)

and this 06 TC with the 300 kit and ported head. (great bike with a horrible transmission)...

Yes, we seem to have similar tastes. I am almost afraid to get a 250/310, knowing that I will wring it out and run it at the rev limiter entirely too much!

the X-light motor actually prefers that. Check the bore and stoke, it is made to rev. People who like to short shift and grunt it usually do not like the x-light platform. Probably a big reason the racers like it and are winning big on it.

That is what I have read. I have no fear of modded 125s, but I know that you pay for every rev on a high strung 4T. Hmmmm?

I have an '08 TC250 that has just over 80hrs of fast paced MX and supermoto use. Ie, it's had it's neck rung for 80hrs and it measured less than 4% on the leak down test this winter. The mechanic didn't believe me when I said it had 80 hrs. He offered to but it. I figure that is about the best praise a bike can get if a mechanic is willing to spend his own money on it.

And the x-light motor is a big step ahead of this old '08 so I wouldn't hesitate on buying another 250/310.
