1991 xr200 old or new suspension???

I was reading on the forum where several people said the best years for the xr200 were 86-90 and that in 1992 honda made a new suspension that was not as good. There is confusion about 1991. One guy said that honda did not make a 1991 xr200, but that cannot be true, because I own one.

Does the 1991 xr200 have the newer less desirable suspension found in 1992 or does it have the same suspension that came with the 86-90?

Honda did not import any XR200Rs in 89 and 92.

Best suspension starting point for serious trail work is the 86-91 model. Your bike should have a remote reservoir for the rear shock with a clicker knob, indicating the good long travel shock.

The later suspension may be less desirable for some users but that doesn't make 86-91 suspension 'good'. But with careful attention to sag adjustment and fork oil any 200 suspension can be OK depending on intended use and expectations. The XR200 and CRF150/230 have similar suspension issues so you will find good info on both forums.

Here is a link to a thread on the XR200 chassis that has links to other suspension threads: http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=959294
