Yamaha how to tell year of yfz motor?

i bought a yfz450 a little while back, and one day i went to go ride it and it was running and it coughed and shut off, i went to go kick it over again and it was locked up. I gave it a hell of a kick and it broke free, started and did the same thing 3 mins. later. So i parked it drained the oil and it was full of metal shavings So i pulled the plug out and kicked it over again and it still does it. I posted on here before and the main response i got was that the cranks bad. im about ready to tear into it but i have one main problem, i was told the quad was an 05 and the motor was an 07. But i was also told when i bought it that it had stage 3 hot cams and when i took the cam cover off they appear stock but once i rip it apart and find the actual problem, i still dont know what year to buy parts for an 05 or 07 . Is there anyway that i can runn the numbers on the motor or any tell tale signs what year the motor is? Thanks guys!

write down vin number on motor and call into local dealer they can answer your question
