07 CRF to CR250AF? Anyone have one?

Curious if anyone out there has a CR250AF with a 2001 CR250 engine in a 07 CRF frame? I would like to know how they handle and where anyone may have had their conversion done?

why not just get an 07 cr250?

I've been told the 2001 CR engine performed much better. I owned a 2002 at one time and the bike was mellow on the bottom.

yea, but wild on the top end.

as the 01 id better on the bottom but flater on the top.

iv wanted to put my 96 motor into a modern chassie but, in reality it isnt worth it. sure if i find a cheap roller ill probebly do it...

BUT i much rather do a cr500AF

Yes I have one, 01 engine in 07 CRF250 frame. This is a very difficult swap and you may want to consider putting an 01 motor into a 02-07 CR250 frame.

Using the gen 3 frame is much simpler and will give you a very good handling bike.

I've heard this from a couple of honda die hards...the Gen 4 frame took a slight step backwards over the Gen 3 frame. Handling and comfort overall seems to also favor the Gen 3, plus if you're over 6' tall, the gen 3 frame will fit better. There's so much aftermarket support too for the Gen 3 CR250...auto clutches, oversize gas tanks, d/s kits, kickstand, wheels, triple clamps, graphics, plastics, it's huge.
