Well Spangler is an open area so it's all good. Go and explore.

Night ride route? Same as a day route just at night. I've been to the Husky from Spangler at night as well.

good to know.

we've ridden all over Dove SPg/s redrock Cyn, Calico, rasor & mojave road and did last years Death valley 350 so there's just been a big hole in the middle of our riding areas.

we will plan on checking that box this weekend..

Thanks!

Been there.. done that. Thanks! But we went there coming in from Dove springs side. stopped at Bickel camp too, met "Don" and pudgy, saw the rat feces encrusted vehicles (Geez they should hose those things off) fast jeep roads are not what we're after here...

Wow, something out near Randsburg that is legal and NOT a road...

Let me know when you find it!

Oh Silly Chad - Since we are now not talking about Cal City you know there is some good stuff around there. Gil's Hill anyone??

Seriously - Check out Fremont Ridge, R71 / R77 in the Rands. You can always go play in the Red Rock area which if you were looking for another Long Day route wold be a good one. Randsburg to Jawbone Store and Back.

Gil's hill and the surrounding ST, while glorious, is what... maybe 5 miles of good surrounded by 1,000 miles of whooped-out dirt highway?

Sure, there's still a lot of fun to be had out in Spangler if you just want to fart around, but as far as tying in a legitimate loop from Trona to Randsburg or even Randsburrg to Red Rock or Jawbone on anything other than dirt highway... I'm not seeing it.

A lot of the 'fun stuff' out there isn't exactly on the map if you know what I mean

Dead Eye

If you have not been there you should include Inscription Canyon on your Husky, plane crash tour. You arn't far from there on that ride. Look on any map of area.

The only reason to ride to the Trona Pinnacles is to look at them. The ride there is a dirt road and no fun. Can't imagine why you would wanna go there at night. Kinda like going to the movies... getting your popcorn and candy.. then turning the projector off and sitting in the dark !

The ride to the Trona Pinnacles is fun if you take the Teagle sand wash.

Didn't you just get done with 1000 miles of two track? However, for the most part you are correct. There is a lot of dirt roads out there. If you string them together there are some good legal trails on the north side of the Rands. Some have a few hairy sections.

After a 350 mile day ride last Saturday I'm ready for some singletrack.

Just depends on how fast you go down that road. It's a good fifth gear section on my XR. It likes that road. Nothing like hitting the whoops at 70 to get your attention.

Well, there's our route then.

My experience riding moto's at night is minimal, but Mountain bikes at night extensive. Sometimes a dull boring trail that you've ridden a billion times in the daylight becomes a lot more interesting in the dark. Plus I need to try out the new 100 watt Headlight on the XR400.

Arent' there some closures in Red Rock are this time of year. Something about breeding Rape-tours or some such weirdness. Not something we'd want to intrude upon, it 2 weeks a month or something??

There appears to be some great canyons and such on the garlock side of them thar hills.

thx!

Fun yes... but there isnt any sand wash running into Trona Pinnacles that is legal anymore. You need to be on the dirt road in and out which is a long boring ride. We got away with arriving via the wash after I got my ticket for riding too close to a Pinnacle. Then after I was properly yelled at in front of my crew we were escorted OUT by BLM via the road.

I just don't understand the destination if it's a night ride. I wouldn't do the Grand Canyon at night either. Trona Pinnacles is an amazing site to see... if the lights are on. Might be something to do on a full moon. Kinda erie then.

Yes... Nightmare Gulch I believe.

Did you see my El Paso loop on GPSXchange?

It goes form Randsburg to Jawbone and back. The A loop has some very tough single track that is until the BLM gets their WEMO marking up then most will be closed.

Yes Jerry I am a big fan of your GPS Tracks. Your knowledge of the high desert/ Death Valley etc amazes me. Thanks for sharing them! you should write a book...

the whole closure thing just annoys me... I just added the JAwbone to Rands A & B tracks to my gps too.

"Get it while the gettin's good" my Dad always said..

Regarding the night ride to Trona. no moon really this weekend, good stars, but I think we may save that for a full moon, that'd be nice and spooky. We will skip it if it's just a jeep road blaster, but that's still more fun than watching the TV!

We have a game plan ! Thanks to all! I just wish I had a few more days......

"Killer Loop" I like that...
