01 cr 500r fork oil level

Have a set of cr 500 forks heard 2 different stories on the fork oil level. 1 that it takes a certain amount of oil and 2 you measure the oil height with the forks collapsed from top of tube to top of oil. which is the right one and what is the amount of oil or what is the measurement from the top of tube to the oil. any help will be greatly appreciated.

2 different forks - 2 different stories. while the CR250 has twin-chamber forks, you have open chamber forks, where you can measure the fork oil height.
