Washington Ft Lewis Offroad Race

Recommended Posts

Well, I received word today that I got the go ahead for the race. Its scheduled for Sep 3rd (labor day weekend) out at the Ft Lewis ORV area. So far the details I have are: 1 hr race, dirtbikes & quads (ran separate, 1hr each), $15 entry fee, open to military/civilian DOD card holders, riders will have to register through MWR and watch the safety video prior to the race. More details to follow as they come in. I'll be looking for volunteers for course setup, admin, lap checkers etc.....

Did you get any more land authorized for it? I don't see how you could run a challenging offroad course in the designated ORV area on post. Willing to help if they let us have more (any) single track......

I guess you can call it a harescramble, but no, theyre not gonna give us more area for the event. I'm going about this to make it as easy as possible for them to say yes, once we get the first event, then I'll ask for more if they want to do more in the future. But we need to rally as much rider support as we can for it, so that we can show that we do have the riders for future events. So tell everyone you know who is or may know someone with a DOD card.

when I was stationed there, we would go out to the firing range every summer and watch a combined live fire arms show for the ROTC students.. most amazing fireworks show you could ever imagine with M1 tanks, towed vulcans, 155 artillery, A10 tank busters, and one year, an AC130 shooting down 105mm shells from 2,000ft over head..

ahh.. miss those days.. hehe.. anyway, good luck with the race

Roost could be an issue.

M1's don't roost, they shred. And they make very nice MRE heaters! (before there were heaters in the bag)

Oh yeah,

I'd be glad to support this event as well. Am actually surprised a race is even going to be allowed at all!

Please spread the word. MWR is working the PA side as far as advertising so for now its all word of mouth. I'd love to make my own flyers and stick them up all over the place but I'm pretty sure they'd be all up my ass if I did that.

I shall do so. PM me if more help needed. I'm no Expert level rider but am definitely willing to help get something started on the JBLM turf beyond the ORV pits that the 4 wheel dipshits exploit and help expand 2 wheel usage in the future.

Hi, all. DRZ-400S rider from Kodiak, AK here. I'll have a week to burn next week and just purchased ferry tickets to/from Homer so I can do a solo trip on the mainland. I know it's a little late in the season, but does anyone have any suggestions for places I can go?
Some places I've looked at:  East End Road (Homer), Crown Point Mine Trail (Kenai Peninsula), Hatcher Pass, McCarthy/Kennicott Mine, Chicken, Denali Hwy, etc.
I know it's a little late in the season, so some of these areas may not work (McCarthy/Kennicott comes to mind).  It will be my first time riding a motorcycle on mainland Alaska since 1999-2000.  Any suggestions/advice are greatly appreciated!

Anyone know of any good shops that offer vapor blasting or water blasting or vapor honing. It's all the same thing just different names.
Looking to have some aluminum street bike frames done so need a place that can handle larger pieces.
Some where close to Seattle east side Tacoma that you might recommend.
I found the motoshed in queen Anne but they can't do larger items.
