Washington Stampede Pass

Recommended Posts

I noticed a comment in the Stampede Pass description in the Where to Ride section that made me wonder if this place really is legal for off-road bikes or do you have to be dual sport? The comment I'm referring to said, "Watch out for the occasional forest service truck, they do not have a right to pursue, so just keep going =D" I'm not quite sure how to take this. I'd hate to go up there with the kids only to get a big, fat ticket X4. It's a bit close than the area at Elk Heights so it would certainly be more convenient for me. Has anybody ridden up there? What's it like?

I do believe you have to be street legal as they are fireroads.

Little Jeff

That is correct. But right now sleds are legal....

You have to be street legal to ride the roads up Stampede. If you run from a Forest Service Law Enforcement officer it is no different than running from a Sheriff.

Thanks, guys. Too bad it's not legal unless you have plates. I wouldn't dream of running from the Forest Service. I'd be an easy target. All he'd have to do is wait by the truck and he could nail me and my three boys. That would be a good fundraising day for him.

Hi, all. DRZ-400S rider from Kodiak, AK here. I'll have a week to burn next week and just purchased ferry tickets to/from Homer so I can do a solo trip on the mainland. I know it's a little late in the season, but does anyone have any suggestions for places I can go?
Some places I've looked at:  East End Road (Homer), Crown Point Mine Trail (Kenai Peninsula), Hatcher Pass, McCarthy/Kennicott Mine, Chicken, Denali Hwy, etc.
I know it's a little late in the season, so some of these areas may not work (McCarthy/Kennicott comes to mind).  It will be my first time riding a motorcycle on mainland Alaska since 1999-2000.  Any suggestions/advice are greatly appreciated!

Anyone know of any good shops that offer vapor blasting or water blasting or vapor honing. It's all the same thing just different names.
Looking to have some aluminum street bike frames done so need a place that can handle larger pieces.
Some where close to Seattle east side Tacoma that you might recommend.
I found the motoshed in queen Anne but they can't do larger items.
