yz 250 skid plate ?

got a 03 yz 250 and i been thinkin about getting a skid plate and which one to get. Any opinions on the ricochet offroad skidplate or is a glide plate good. I mainly ride in the woods, no tracks.

forget a glide plate. Go with what you mentioned, a flatland or MSR.

I have the ricochet plate anodized in black...I love it! Full coverage, beefy mounting hardware, and $10 to have it anodized in any color you want. You can't go wrong...I will snap a couple of pics if you want to see the fitment.

I built my own, you can see the extra protection that is offered over a glide plate only. I cut it for the glide and added side protection.

Mattedhead, would you be able to snap those picks? I havent seen one in black but im going to look into it. I always order from rockymountainatv and I think they just have the silver one.

I like my Hyde. I've has aluminum stick to rocky surfaces before. The plastic will slide better. It's lighter, too.

I put a carbon one on my blue bike. It got pretty hammered on the Utah trip. I wouldn't recommend it if you ride in really rocky stuff.

Carbon fiber is a poor choice if you really need a skid plate. Won't take many log or root hits either before breaking.

While I don't have a YZ, I did put a flatland on my WR, and it has taken a number of serious hits in the rock garden where I ride. I can attest to their durability and protection. I hit one rock hard enough to almost stop the bike, which is quite a bit heavier than yours. If it will take that, it will take a lot.
