Getting flywheel cover off

Recommended Posts

I took out the bolts and the thing didn't budge. Took a rubber mallet to it and still nothing. I'm afraid to wail too hard on it but how do you get these things off?

Remove the 9 bolts and 1 nut. There are a couple of raised bosses on the cover at 1, 5 and 9 o'clock. Use a long wooden dowel or the like and gently tap equally all around to pry it off.

Forgot to mention that it's a '96 XR250. A;so. do I have to replace the gasket if I remove the cover? I guess if it's that hard to get off that the cover is going to be ruined when I take it off.

You meant "gasket" right. If the gasket is ruined by the time you get the cover off, then yes it will need replacing.

Thanks Trail, after re-reading my sentence I see how tired I was when I wrote it. Thanks for your advice.
