Is pump gas that bad?

Hey guys, I've been running 93 octane pump gas for a long time, but i have heard that it's terrible for your carb and stuff like that...is this true?

thanks

Only if your bike sits for weeks without being run. Then you should add stabilizer to your fuel.

I always drain the tank when i get home because i only ride once a month

The main issue is the ethanol that is added to the fuel. There are still some stations out there that offer ethanol free gas at the pump.

I am not sure how often this site is updated, but maybe it will give you some ideas anyway.

Pump gas was exactly what engineers designed our bikes to run on. They knew that there is no magical "other" gas.

Agree about the ethanol issue. I saw first hand the deposits it left in my XR200 carburetor posted here: http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=975574

Here are some alternatives: 1) use ethanol-free gas, 2) use ethanol stabilizer, like Stabilize for ethanol or Marine Stabilize, 3) drain your carb after riding.
