Anyone in Minnesota want to ride

Recommended Posts

I feel strange asking, but I live in Saint Paul and have had my DRZ400S for four years now. My neighbor sold his dual sport, and its not fun riding with sport bikes on the freeway. Is there anyone in the Twin Cities who just wants to go for a ride and hit some dirt. I even no a couple small places to ride in the metro area. Last year I did a ride with Twin Cities Trail Riders but no one really wanted to do a dual sport ride.

I have a couple of small spots I can get a little dirty in down by the river and along the railroad tracks by the Fairgrounds

Here are some websites that I've used this summer to get connected to people:

http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=709749 I'll be doing this next summer too.

I'm open to a shorter ride this afternoon.

Sorry, I just saw your message. I did end up going for a short ride (about 30 miles) yesterday afternoon right before sunset. I live up in the northwest suburbs and can usually find a little gravel or something to take, but yesterday ended up being all paved.

The ride your organizing up north this summer sounds fun. I've ridden the Paul Bunyan Trails a couple days last year and it was a good time.

Once upon a 10 years ago my buddie and I put on a few DS rides up near Duluth area. They were supper fun and everyone liked them. My buddie has stopped riding since then and I haven't done much for group riding since. Every year I think about trying To do another one, Maybe one year I will who knows. If you guys are ever up in the north/east area let me know.

I should add, my DS style is mostly dirt and minimum pavement to make the loop complete.

I'm on the west side of the cities and ride a bike thats not quite street legal so I stick to the trail systems and logging roads. Just keep in touch here on TT and we can get something organized (next spring). I used to do dual sport but sooooo many of the fun areas are gone that I had to find an alternative.

Where are you finding logging roads on the west side of the cities. I'd like to check those out!

I guess I didn't make myself quite clear. I live on the west side but those logging roads I was speaking of are WAYYYYY up north. I tried Spider Lake for the first time last summer and would like to go more often unless I can find something closer. I used to know every "dual sport" area around the Twin Cities years ago but they are either GONE (developed) or have been converted to "recreational areas" that no one uses any way. Do I sound bitter?

I've been riding all winter. I didn't see your new post. Since TT updated I haven't been getting emails from them. There is a group dual sport ride up near Paul Bunyan State Forest May 20th that I'm going to. PM me if your looking for someone to go riding with. I won't mind just going out to cause trouble.

Yeah, I haven't been getting emails either. I've had to "unfollow" and then "refollow" the thread to get it to notify me...

I've been riding all winter too! I only have about a 3 mile commute to work though, so even if it's cold, I'm able to tough out a few miles. I'll keep an eye on that weekend in May. A coworker of mine and I were thinking of going up to Nemadji sometime in May, so we'll see how things pan out. He rides an MX bike, but I'm working on him to get a Dual Sport...
