07 CRF250F "tick" with auto decomp notch...

We have not started this bike since it started "ticking" when he tried to kick start it. We took the cover off and when it "ticks" is when the auto decompression notch on the cam goes by the rollers that go to the valves, the valves pop slightly and "tick", no other ticking noted while turning it over. We've been told probably needs a valve adjustment and I was just wondering if that sounded about right. ?

It's totally normal. If the valves need adjusted or replaced, it would be almost impossible to kick start and would sometimes push start. While you have the valve cover off, check the valve lash. Should be between .004"-.006" on the intake valves and .008"-.011" on the exhausts.
