I got mine about the same time as you, reg. is due this week. Wish I would have chronicled my mods like that. One major difference; the X is the ONLY bike I've had since '05.

Yeah, I know it sounds like I am spoiled beyond belief (which is mostly true), but all those 'second' bikes came from the same $3000+ or so, recycled over and over.

And yeah, Orange is probably next.

I don't own any Austrian left-handed Pumpkin tools, however.

Krannie, you never mentioned anything about chain and sprockets. You still going strong with the stock chain and kept stock gearing?

Krannie, you never mentioned anything about chain and sprockets. You still going strong with the stock chain and kept stock gearing?

It's listed in the 'mods' list.

Stock chain and sprocket lasted about 100 hours, then it got 'jammed up' by a rock. I changed the chain, kept the sprocket, and went another 150 hours or so on both.

You can wear out a chain, sprocket, and rear tire in one day, if you are a monster on the throttle. I stopped doing that about 11 years ago. I have more fun riding well, than riding fast, nowadays.

I have the DID 520vt2 and the 'Supersprox" on there now, and it took about 20 rides before it even started to stretch!!

Nice X model . I own an 03" 450 R since julu 03". Mine is street plated. I can plate anything but an atv or utv here in New Hampshire, all that is needed is a fold away mirror, petal bike horn, headlight asleast 35 watts, working tail and brake light , kickstand is optional but why wouldn't you. I think N.H. is the last state to get away without directionals and electric horn. I do very much need a soft seat foam, I have a sdg tall but way too hard on my ass when I do road riding to connect trails. Is guts racing the only one that sells soft foam ? Thanks

Hey ah, Krannie. I rode a similiar WR450F that was all YZ-icized last weekend. :ride: Good overall pull but no power wheelie a-go-go.:ride: My YZ250F has the power wheelie go go but lacks the 450 broad pull of course (but it does have great snap).

Do you find the Honda to have more snap and wheel liftin' power than the WR450 or is it only found on your KX450F? I Have ridden MX bikes for too long and have learned to expect this. Will I be unhappy with a stockish 450X motor wise? I'm big and tall.

Oh ya, great thread! I have similiar records in a boring excel table however. :D

The '03 WR when uncorked and tuned with YZ cam timing has just enough power. It has good torque down low and lots of over-rev, and No hit.

The later years are slower, less suspension travel, and such.

All of them have terrible forks, small ergos,

The stock fully un-corked and jetted X has more motor, but it is more midrange-y. The X is much more suited to a big person.
