98 honda cr250 factory suspension

I just got a honda cr250 and I was curious if anyone could help with getting suspension set up stock. I weight 230 and cant seem to find a happy medium. I have a manual but am not sure exactly where to start from. any help would be helpful.

you going to need springs

If I set the sag and it comes out good would be no reason for a new spring would it.

very true but older bikes came softly sprung so I would be very surprised if the springs are correct

If I set the sag and it comes out good would be no reason for a new spring would it.

no way will you get the correct sag. You MIGHT be able to get the right rider sag on the shock, but when you get off the bike it will top out like..right now. It would have no FREE sag, and that is a problem. you know when you have the right spring rate, when you can set rider and free sag correctly.

thanks for all your replys as soon as i check the sag and set up factory settings on the bike i will let yall know the outcome. yall are probable right but i have to try and hope for the best.
