timing chain guide... imperative ??

Recommended Posts

I just finished putting back together the engine out of my XR650L. Since this was the first time attempting this, it took me a few times, but amazingly it started right up and seems to run great. However, when I started to clean up my area, I came across the guide for the timing chain. Like I said, it runs great, but how imperative is it... shoiuld I break the motor back down, or do you think it'll be okay for a couple of weeks...???

I would not feel comfortable running the bike without the guide in place...It's there for a reason! Take it apart and do it right, or regret it later.

That is a definite "10" on the "OH S**T" scale. The guide needs to be in there. Look at it in the light of a learning experience, we've all had them
