new rubber, always a good thing before a race.

+1.........Fresh tires is one of the best mods for any bike....Plus getting in seat time....that will make you faster than any "bolt on" part.....

Suspension should be the first thing ya do to your bike after you get your controls setup.

What they all said above is true but you may want to look into various size sprockets and see what combination is best for your riding style. Who knows, the stock gearing maybe best for you? A set of cams will wake up the bike also making sure your jetting is spot on

Absolutely, and experiment with race sag, fork height, bar adjustment and suspension settings, all those things effect the others.

+1 for suspension. When I was young I thought putting all the high dollar aftermarket goodies would make me faster...NOPE! I got my suspension done and the bike was day and night. Now I dump money into suspension over engine mods. I'll probably never use all the power my bikes give me. lol

Looking to buy a used Beta 2017 500 RRS from outside California.  Can I plate (Register with CA DMV) the bike in CA?  If so what is the best way?  Don't have the money to put down for a new bike from a Dealer in CA.  Any help or sugguestions would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

This continues to be my favorite trail/race weapon!! In our Eastern tight woods, power is not King, handling is. And this thing outhandles them all!!!!
