Recommended Posts

Im getting valves done on my trx250x and i was wanting to go ahead and put new rings in it while i have the top end off can i do this without tearing down the bottom end and also should i hone the cylinder while im at it. Ive never done this on a fourstroke before so any and all feedback would be appreciated thank you

yes just take off the cylinder, the piston will stay on the rod. make sure you cover the area around the rod so dirt and stuff dont fall in your bottom end. remove the circlip and slide out the wrist pin and there your go you can replace your piston and rings. better get someone to check your cylinder to see if its out of round and still within specification. if its out of round your new rings wont last long before it starts smoking again.
