Free XR200R

Hey guys first post here, this is a great site with tons of information, good job. In need of a little advice, a coworker had an 02 XR200R that had snapped the trans counter shaft, and from what I gather was caused by alcohol and wheelies, he did not wont to sink any more money into it so he gave it to me. Everything else looks clean in the engine and bottom end, the piston has a few scratches but the cyl wall looks fine. Is there anything I should check that might have snapped the shaft? Everything seems to spin free. Thanks for any replies.

I've heard of the countershafts breaking from a drive chain that is too tight.

chain too tight usually breaks sprocket mounts on hub, but too much traction on the street while bangin wheelies could prove fatal
