'07 KTM Speedo Not Working

Recommended Posts

'07 KTM XC-W 450.

Speedo not working. Turned front wheel and nothing.

Checked cabling and all good.

Verified the unit it working (Pressed the O button on the unit and can see the display).

Any suggestions on what to check?

Thanks!

Hey Walshie,

Welcome, from another Canuck...

If the speedo "magnet" is still in the front disk... see if the sensor is covered with dirt... or it has loosened and moved too far away from disk...

If you don't have an owners manual, this pic (from my EXC manual) might help you...

garage.php?do=viewattachment&attachmentid=94095

Good luck

Took a look tonight and seems the magnet is missing.

Going to check with my closest KTM dealer, but a quick look online and the magnet costs $19.00 plus shipping!!

Is it possible to replace it with something other than the OEM magnet?

just about any magnet fitting in the hole with epoxy will work

Tried a magnet from a craft store (used for fridge magnets and what not) and did not work.

Any other suggestions? Is there a specific type of magnet I should be looking for?

Thanks again!

Try a hobby store... search for "rare earth" magnet, slightly smaller diameter than the disk hole and just cement it in place with some epoxy.

After searching high and low for a magnet that would fit, I finally was able to find one at a local discount store. Thanks guys for your help.
