90 Rear disk brake rotor

Recommended Posts

Just picked up a 90 DR650S, pretty solid. I'm hoping it's a oldie AND a goodie. I already have a 94 DR350, so I'm looking forward to the extra power.

The rear disk rotor seems pretty well worn, but the brakes seems to operate just fine. I noticed new rotors are very pricey $200.

Any suggestions here? Can the rotors be turned like a car?

Check the fine print around the center of the rotor -- there will be a minimum thickness printed there. Chances are, if you rotor looks well worn, it is already below the minimum thickness, and should be replaced.

Both rotors on my 92 DR350S are worn past the minimum thickness, with 14000 miles on the clock.

EBC makes very nice replacements that can be had for $150 - 200 each.

There are tons of Chinese rotors on eBay as well -- I'm not sure of the quality there...
