Spring rubbing on inside of fork leg. Metallic looking oil. Help.

I put new fork springs in my 2011 RMZ450. When I went to change the oil i noticed metallic (silvery) looking oil. I inspected the inside of the fork tube and noticed that the spring had been rubbing up a against it. I beleive the metallic looking fluid came from the spring. Im only seeing this in one of the fork legs.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I think this is a common scenario because a few years ago honda advertised a liquid honing process for the fork springs reducing the oil contamination.

So my best bet is to clean the springs as best as possible and throw em back in ?

Hopefully most of the cotamination came off the first round.

You can polish the springs in a lathe!
