California Elkins Flat, 9am, Sunday, May 29 @ The Cold Spot

Recommended Posts

This should be fun. I could take you to the SSS but then I'd have to kill you.

I'd go with BigBob to Foresthill but I'm not an early riser.

Plan on 50+ miles. Lunch out on the trails. Red stickers are welcome. An Intermediate ride. I'll point to the Hill Climb of Death & we'll do the Jungle Cruz. :smirk: We'll start the morning with a test and end the day with some fun hill climbs! The river may be too deep & fast to cross to the swimming hole....... help anybody. The creek should be fun. :prof:

I'll show everyone where Robo passed out with that tree & maybe we'll do the Leak Springs Tower. I love the trail to the tower. This time of year there should still be some snow to make it interesting. :smirk:

Here's the map of Elkins.

http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/eldorado/documents/rogs/rog_ohv_elkins.pdf

The cold spot is right there at the corner of North/South Rd and Leoni Rd.

Google took me straight there. http://www.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&f=d&dirflg=r&saddr=&daddr=caldor+ca.&ttype=dep&date=7%2F17&time=7%3A15pm

Just zero in on the green balloon!

One things for sure.............................. I'm bringing my camera!

Would love to go on that one - but I'm turning 42 that day.

Need to be home.

I am heading out Elkins way on Monday.

Plus - less crowds on Monday.

It will be a complete zoo out there this weekend.

Yes - there are trees down.

Be prepared.

I'm thinking Monday too. Family 'stuff' on Sunday. I have my son visiting from New Zealand and got him a loaner bike so we can ride. Not early, maybe 10am arrive, heading home around 2pm; 4 hours for a season warm up run.

I'm good to go for that.

May bring my boy - he is pretty slow but likes to ride.

Want to meet at the Cold Spot at 10:00?

Well, DRAT!

I'm now informed the 'family stuff' is Sunday AND Monday. Out of town guests arriving and somehow it's interpreted as being rude if I take off to go riding. It's gonna be awesome up there with potting soil conditions too!

Heading up there in the RV soon, should be there around dark thirty. Come on up and join me as I have nothing to do but ride. Big brown and white Allegro RV with KTM 300 on back.

Potting soil rules!!!

Hopefully be at the cold spot if not full.

No truce needed BigBob. If I can't give you sh!t, I'd shrivel up. This place would be rather dull without you. YOU are The Skipper after all!

I've already had phone calls & PMs asking more specifics. I don't mean to be a hard @ss but I've already said yes! You can show us that special trail going down to the swimming hole. You know I'd only get us lost! :smirk:

I'm lobbing for my son to join us too, but he's got a girlfriend now................... you know how that is! :smirk:

Come on out to the Cold Spot & join us! It ain't a real party unless you're there. Heck, I'm hoping there will be some Sierra Nazis too.

Man! I wish I had time to ride this weekend.:smirk:

I guess I shouldn't have put off my "honey-do's" for so long.

Have a great ride.:smirk:

Scott, how was shooting? Wasn't it last week?

I haven't done an Appleseed yet. The mags I ordered became back-ordered and haven't arrived.

How was Mother's Day @ Area 51?

I took my 20 year old daughter to The Stupid Spot @ Foresthill & spent 4 hours shooting a variety of guns & clays.

Bad news is: She's a better shot than me! She's better at everything! Everything! :prof::smirk:

I enjoy the targets that blow up! Tannerite is just a dream at this point. We're hitting golf & tennis balls. Jello & paper targets. We did see 1 very lucky squirrel.

Oh, getting old sucks! :smirk:

From So.Sac the Jackson Hwy would be your best bet. Take that to 49 towards Jackson. Hop on 88 to Omo Ranch. OR when you get to Sutter Creek you can take the Ridge Rd. shortcut.... OR you can continue on Jackson Hwy til you get to Plymouth and take either the Fiddleton shortcut or the Shannondoh/Mt Aukum/Omo Ranch Rd shortcut. :smirk: The reason I'm getting

a chuckle out of this is because I've wasted lots of gas and precious time

trying to figure out the quickest route to Elkin's. From my house I think it's

50 to Missouri Flat/ Pleasant Valley/ Buck's Bar ya da ya da but for dude from

So.Sac use the first suggestion. OUT......

Here you go for directions straight there!

The cold spot is right there at the corner of North/South Rd and Leoni Rd.

Google took me straight there. http://www.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&f=d&dirflg=r&saddr=&daddr=caldor+ca.&ttype=dep&date=7%2F17&time=7%3A15pm

1) Click the above link.

2) Left hand corner has the location of the Cold Spot in box B. Simply put your own address in the box marked A.

3) Click the Get Directions tab.

4) Click the button just above that looks like a car.

5) A step by step list of directions fills out. You can print it out by hitting the tab marked print. You can also include the map by just clicking the box.

See you at 9!

The INTERNET is not just for surfing porn anymore! :smirk:

Now the weatherman is calling for a 30% chance of rain tomorrow. Here is his idea.

Snap_2011.05.28%25252016.32.30_001.jpg

He is calling for just a little rain in the morning. Not when we're riding. I have ridden Elkins in the rain, it was not fun. The one consulaton is.......................... if it's raining............... NOBODY will be out there. We will be riding The Jungle Cruz tomorrow. That trail is BEST when it's wet. To be safe, bring your water proof pants. :smirk:

Don't feel bad, I had 3 different people ask me this same question.
