jetting vs pumper

So I am in the process of rebuilding a stock carb on a stock 2000 xr 400. Would not mind a bit more performance but dont want to give up reliability. I see 3 options and would like input. Want to be able to ride at 2000 and 10000 ft with minor changes if any.

1 rebuild and stick with factory

2 rebuild with new jets(which ones)

3 go with a pumped carb(which one)
