'90 CR250R fork swap

I have used the search function, but could not find an answer to this question:

I have a 1990 CR250R that needs new forks, the old ones are more or less waste.

I can get a set of 2003 Cr250R forks with triple trees for less than it will cost me to rebuild my old forks, and so my question is:

Has anyone done this conversion, and what does it involve?

Thanks.

:smirk:

I believe and I could be wrong...the only issue will be with the steering stops not properly aligning on the 2003 tree and your 1990 frame.

Ok thanks, so I have to use a different lower clamp then? Any idea what year clamp to look for?

I was thinking the fork tubes from the 03 would fit your 1990 tree.

editted...looks like a 96 lower clamp will accept the newer TC Showas and work with your frame stops.

get a complete front end - clamps, brake caliper, axle, forks, wheel. Then swap the stem. You may need conversion bearings, ALLBALLS racing makes them.

Great!

Thanks!

I will look into getting a complete front end then.
