Mexihonkey Survives the NORRA Mexican 1000 Rally for the "W"

Recommended Posts

Gabriel Williams aka 'Mexihonkey' POWERED by Baja Bound Moto, MX1 West, 3B Yoga & racesolo.com takes 1st overall motorcycle at the NORRA Mexican 1000.

It was awesome to win but it couldn't have been done without the help of these people:

Baja Bound Moto - Tim, Jen, Jade, Tom/Jane, Joey Lane (4/4 of their bikes finish 1st 250, 1st OA moto & 2nd OA moto - adding to their 100% finish rate in all their years of race prep and support), Seve & MX1 West.

The race is crazy. I've never been pinned for so much for so long. I can't adequately explain how dangerous & frightening it is to pass so many cars in the blinding dust at race speeds. Most were gracious, some oblivious and a few dangerous & would jackrabbit me.

Those old bikes are fast. I could have raced that old xr600 in Class22 - thanks again BBM. People really brought their A game. I got push-started by Larry Roeseller and got to 'race' him most of day 2 - how cool is that, definately something to write home about. Announcer Dude/George Antil made me feel like a rock star, thanks.

Lots of misfortunes on day 1 & 3 and a couple really scary days of racing having to pass so many cars but you can't complain if you win... it's a rule

Gabriel, Congrats!

Two questions, what year was that XR you rode?

And two, was that a fresh 606 that your shredded?

You sounded good as you passed us right after the 7-11 on the road out of SF. Smitty, myself and Greene were under that red and white Husqvarna EZ up, on the right side, taking it all in.

The XR was an 89, great bike with the exception of a drum rear brake that is useless over 15 mph.

Yeah, Brand-spank'n-new 606. That was about 150 miles into to the race.

Nice to see you on the course!

Gabriel, Congrats!
