Loctite fixes - how much?

I'm about to do all of the listed loctite fixes (counter shaft, starter, stator). Will a 6ML of 271 be enough? Or do I need the bigger bottle?

6 ml is enough .

do the counter balancer and primary nut also

6ml might be enough, but I would get the next size up to be sure. Doesn't hurt to have extra Loctite around the house

Where are these at?

Well...the chances of me ever using 271 again are pretty slim. I have many bottles of 242 laying around. I'm a cheap ass.

That small tube is enough to do several bikes, step on the tube, squish some out on the floor, and still have enough to do anther few drz.s..

Counter balancer nut and primary nut are under the cover,,,Clutch side

Lol ....

Under what cover? Are they both a part of the same mechanism -- the counter shaft?

two drops is plenty, you do not need to coat the threads! just a few drops.

using too much has been linked to CS sprocket bushing seal failure, the locktite gets up there and eats the seal once it rotates.

As noted above,,,under the clutch cover. No not part of the same Assy not part of the counter shaft.

Do a search...lots of threads to assist ..and you might want to have a service manual on hand...if your not sure about the above....working from an iPad or.I'd find the threads for u.

Yeah, not seeing any info. regarding a "counter balancer nut" or "primary nut."

BTW, what part of TX are you from?

Its all in the FAQ, there are 3 pages which can be accessed from the bottom right section of the page.

One of the greatest ways to search for important threads on the forum is to click on "ratings" on the main thread view, this will bring all the highest rated threads to the top, usually some good reads...

Thanks for the last link. Already had the other two bookmarked (still no indication of a counter balancer nut, though)

Really, drain oil AND coolant, remove both engine covers? I just did a coolant flush a week ago. He indicated that 2006 models haven't "reported in numbers," and I have a 2006, so whatever, I'll just go with that and hope mine doesn't come loose. I'm already missing one track day by the time it will take to do these other loctite fixes. Good lawd, Suzuki.

There is one thread found from a search.. There are many others.

You,ll need the right side cover gasket,,oil and coolant to get access to the primary and balancer nut, but the fix itself is easy.

The basic rule on any motor cycle is.... If it rotates , it gets loctite

I'm in centex, kepner.

take notice of when that thread was made....

ALL DRZs need the locktite fixes.
