wr450 head fitment 06 on a 04??

searched the www and tt but came up with nothing

have a 04 wr450, will 06 wr450 head fit it?? any of you wr guru's know??

I'm almost positive it will fit, but it is not the exact same head....

"The 450's bark was partially calmed by reducing the compression ratio. It still has big power, but now comes in a more manageable package."

I believe they made some head changes (porting, cam's, or other things along those lines..) to mellow out the "hit" some.

Pretty sure you could use it with no issues, but, as I have never tried, or know of anyone else who has, I'm not prepared to bet my life on it...

Someone else more knowledgable on here may know for sure.

IIRC yamaha changed the shape of the combustion chamber, going from 12.5:1 to 12.3:1. Also the '06 head will need all the AIS ports blocked off.

If you can, just get an '04 head.

Check the crank, connecting rod and piston are the same part number for both bikes, if yes I'd say you're good with the 06 head.
