When to do a 2-stroke top end

Recommended Posts

What are the symptoms that a top end may need a rebuild on a two stoke if you have no idea of the hours? Do they have a hard time hot starting or bog at top end. Whats the first sign? What feels different after you do it?

You can do a comprestion test, check your manual for a spec. Also any noises would indicate it needs to be done. Pistons and rings are cheap for 2 strokes. My theory was to always replace them before a ring broke or piston cracked and took out the cylinder. If the bike is starting to get harder to start It may be time for rings.
