a sticky valve? / YZ250F

Recommended Posts

2002 Yamaha YZ250F, after an accidental pulling in on the decompression lever while the engine was running and hearing a soft whistle sound from my engine – at the same time - my YZ250F seems to have a slight loss in compression. Did I do some damage, if so what happened and is their a simple cure for this...any ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated..Thank you, roni8

Shouldn't have done anything. The decomp lever just cracks open an exhaust valve and lets the engine turn over easier.

You're fine, nothing's wrong. Ride that sucker!

When you pull that lever while it's running you are stopping one exhaust valve from closing completely, this would cause your compression to decrease, once you let go of the lever, the valve returns to it's normal range of operation and your engine should return to full compression.
