Gearing down

Recommended Posts

So my tall desert gearing kinda killed me at my last enduro, but i forgot:banghead:, will a bigger or smaller front sprocket make it geared lower, like for the woods...

Thanks :smashpc::ride:👍

Smaller in the front or bigger in the rear is what you need to do to gear down. Also 1 tooth in the front is typically the same as 4-5 in the rear.

One tooth in the front is equivalent to 3-4 in the rear with the sprockets normally used.

So i take it you have to take a link off the chain right? How do you go about doing that?

not necessarily.

for example, on my DRZ, i can run 15/44, 14/44, or 14/47 all with the stock 112 link chain. it just puts you in different points in the adjustment range.
