KTM forks

Recommended Posts

Why is it I see people using 43mm ktm usd forks on their DR's and they are replacing the stock tree/ clamps ? Am I wrong thinking a 43mm fork will slide right in without replacing the whole front end ?

I have to figure people are making this harder then it has to be for a reason, but I can't figure it out.

With a USD-fork the diametre of 43 mm means the lower (sliding) part of the fork, next to the axle - the upper part clamped into the triple trees must be around 55 mm or more. No way to make the stock triples fit.

Thanks, that was the only possible reason I could guess at but I thought they were still measured whatever tube was mounted in the clamps.

I knew that would have been way too easy.
