HAte to Ask this Oil Question

Recommended Posts

Bike is a bone stock 2008 Honda CRF450R

am a Amsoil dealer and plan to order some of the 10w-40

http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/mcf.aspx

But I was given a case of this -

http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/aff.aspx

when I was sponsored for jet ski racing for our quad and wonder if it ok to use in my bike or not, since its 0W-40 weight.

I know some say dont waste the money one expensive oil etc. I get a great deal on it so I plan to run some version.

Thanks

I am an amsoil dealer as well. I have had excellent results with 10w-40 oil. The other oil you have mentioned seems to have similar properties except for the viscosity. I don't believe you would do any damage by running it but would be curious if there would be any operational problems with the lighter weight if used in the transmission side. Probably not but only one way to find out.

that is great oil on the motor side. It is not GL rated like the 10-40 they have thus not designed for the tranny. I still use specific tranny oil in the tranny Honda HP

since hondas are split, i ALWAYS run moly oil in the motor side, its cheap insurance. as for the trans side, rotella 15w40 or the honda HP trans 80w85. my 06 has almost 400 hours on it without a single bottom end failure. and im not easy on bikes(b class mx) moly is a miracle oil!
