PJ1 Frame paints

Recommended Posts

Okay, so after reading multiple threads trying to determine a good way to repaint the frame on my YZ125, i found that the PJ1 frame paint is the best stuff..

Heres the deal though.

I can't find the stuff ANYWHERE. Gloss black is the only frame paint i can buy, and i want yamaha blue..

Is there any good substitute?

I just had my son's powdercoated. Multiple color choices and good protection. Not too bad on the price either. You might look into PC.

Just a thought.

What did it cost for you?

The only thing i'm worried about with the PC is that i'm going to crack it or chip it :/

I have about 80 hours on a powdercoated frame, not one chip or crack.

Make sure you go to a reputable company.

As far as the PJ1 paint, any gas or solvent strips it. I would drain my carb with the nut on the bottom of the bowl. The gas pouring out stripped the paint right off.

I had the frame, subframe, rims, hubs, spokes and spoke nipples done and it was $295 for all. Here are some pics.

I like the PC parts, Like GMO said, make sure it is a reputable shop.

Good luck

Thats very cool.

Did you get the frame sand/soda blasted prior to the powdercoating, or did they do that in-house?
