Plated 2000 cr250/cr500 swap questions...

Recommended Posts

I have a plated cr250 and would like to install a cr500.

Is there a year of cr500 that will bolt right in? Or will the frame need to be altered for any of the cr500s?

Is(are) any year(s) of cr500 geared better for high speeds?

I hate saying search because I ask a lot of questions, but this topic has been beaten to death...if you're looking to get a 500 engine it must be a 1991 or newer...Pre 91 engines have a smaller swing arm pivot bolt that must be reamed...check out service hondas website...either way you need to be rather mechanically inclined to do the swap and there's a lot of fab work and none of the motors will bolt right up

Well he is close, 89 and up motors have the right SA bolt size. 93 and up motors have the higher speed gearing. The frame in the 250 will need to be worked on regardless of the year. The stuff is all covered constantly on the web.
