Bike won't start in gear, but fine in neutral

Recommended Posts

As above, my bike won't start in gear, but fine in neutral.

There seems to be no clutch problem, no creep when trying to start it just will not fire.

Any ideas?

I have the heavier flywheel which makes starting a breeze in nuetral.

Not sure if you have a problem? Never try to start in gear, I was always taught to put itinerary neutral.

Try this, with the bike running put it in gear, first or second doesn't really matter. With the clutch still pulled in shut it down with the killswitch, don't let go of the clutch. Ease down on the kick start until you feel it get to tdc. Relax and let the kickstart come back to the top of its travel, then kick it one good time. Should fire up and have you on your way in pretty quick fashion.

I race harescrambles where we go from a dead engine start and this method works every time.
