1992 yz 125 Fork disassembly question

Recommended Posts

I am replacing the fork seals on my 1992 yz 125 and i needed to know if you have to take out the bottom of the shock. You have to use a large hex head bit to unscrew the bottom of the fork. Right now, I have the cap off and the spring out. I also have the dust seal and snap ring moved. So can i just "slide hammer" the fork apart? B/c when i tried it doesn't want to come apart like the videos i see on youtube. Any input would help.

Well, you dont have to take the Basevalve off to replace seals. You can keep the cartridge in the chromleg.

BUT if you wanna do a good job you should take it off the clean it properly.

Just changing seals and oil in USD forks, no need to remove the basevalve.

heat the seal area a little with a torch or boiling water and it should come apart
